I will make an effort to get to know and learn more about each student, in order to be aware of his or her strengths and deficiences in English. By knowing a student's strongpoints, I will then help to build up his confidence and increase his comfort level through usage of these very words he knows. And at the same time, work on what he finds challenging. How much effort do I put into this? As an example, a student who has studied with me once started talking about his future career, and was shocked to find that I remembered he wanted to be a diplomat since he wrote about it on his homework a couple years back.
